Project Description / Challenge
This project is a total software update. But not a revision. It’s involves building a new software platform from scratch and update the code from structural to object oriented programming. The new version of VBulletin will additionally enhance the product’s visual design and useability as well as improve performance and user experience. There were lots of challenges on this project including a short time frame, limited resources, and reverse engineering requirements.
The solution to creating a new version of any large product rehaul like V-Bulletin is to work as part of a team. There was much initial pre-launch work as well as on-going improvements. Here, the emphasis is on both implementation and adaptation. When working with a platform as popular and well-known as VBulletin, problems always present themselves. The solution is to understand the environment completely, adapt to project needs and communicate your ideas.
How we worked with the client
For this project, we worked via the Scrum development system. This required daily Scrum meetings, planning meetings for weekly or 2 weeks sprints, plus all kinds of other meetings, with Marketing on different topics, with billing people, front end developers training & code inspection, sales & support training and general support on stuff and other issues. Additionally, we delivered demos on every sprint for a specific finished story (a set of tasks defined for a specific functionality) Further, we are an active part of problem solving on this project.Back to portfolio
