Common Linux Hosting Procedures

Adding Users

As super user:

/usr/sbin/adduser username
passwd username

Restarting HTTPD Services

As super user:

/sbin/service httpd restart
/sbin/service [servicename] restart

Checking Which Services are Starting on Start Up

/sbin/chkconfig --list

Changing How Services StartUp

As super user:

To enable mysqld to start for all runlevels
/sbin/chkconfig mysqld on

To disable mysqld from starting for all runlevels
/sbin/chkconfig mysqld off
